At Maneckji Cooper Education Trust School, we believe that inclusion and equal opportunity strengthens our social foundation. As educators, it is therefore our responsibility to foster acceptance of human diversity within students so that they may grow to be active participants in society. Here are some ways in which we promote Diversity & Inclusion at school:
Co-education
We are a co-educational school where all genders are given the same resources, attention, and equal opportunity to excel.
The Ratio of Boys & Girls In our school is:
Boys 55% and Girls 45%
Unbiased Admission Criteria
Ratio of Boys and Girls in our School is as follows:
Boys – 55%
Girls – 45%
Sensitization
Preparing young people for adulthood and the real world beyond the school & home requires that their education reflects the diverse society that they live in. It is important for them to be more understanding and accepting of the difference in abilities between people and also social standing. The school regularly undertakes social sustainability initiatives to sensitize students to the world around them and also understand how they can contribute to an equitable existence.
Instilling Empathy
Research and our own experience suggested that feelings of loneliness and isolation over a long period of time can result in an increased risk of mental health issues. We therefore discourage our students from discriminating amongst each other on the basis of mobility issues, disability, money issues etc. Bullying is strictly dealt with and the school also has an in-house counselling service to help students cope with any concerns that might be bringing them down.
Fostering Inclusion
Celebrating festivals & national days together allows students to form a microcosmic community which is a reflection of the world we live in – a mix of all kinds of people from a variety of different backgrounds, abilities and sensitivities. The acceptance and appreciation of this diversity is also the hallmark of India.
