Life skills education is becoming more and more relevant as the world changes. A combination of academic rigour and practical life skills prepare our children to deal with daily responsibilities, work and life situations along with enabling them with the wherewithal to adapt and keep themselves balanced no matter what the circumstances.

The life skills educational activities allow children to develop mental, social and physical abilities and revolve around areas such as:

Critical Thinking & Creativity

Mental Agility

Empathy & Awareness

Resourcefulness

Teamwork & People Management

Emotional Intelligence & Mindfulness

Adaptability

Confidence & Decision Making

Social Abilities & Leadership Qualities

At Maneckji Cooper Education Trust School, we believe that hands – on experience along with academics will prepare our children for successful adulting when the time comes. Life skills will enable them to have a little more control over how they respond to real life situations and daily stressors, become more independent and stay focused on their goals.

With this in mind, we incorporate activity-based learning in our daily school routine right from the early stages of learning. Here are some examples of the activity type and its objectives.

Breathing Techniques
In a workshop conducted by an external expert, the children learnt how to deal with any form of oral trauma and also a variety of breathing techniques for relaxation and good lung health.
Finger painting for Nursery
The activity was organized to enhance sensory integration in children and improve fine motor development by strengthening finger and hand muscles.

Creating a Daily Routine

As adults, we know how important it is to have a daily routine in order for us to manage all of the daily asks from us. It also instils a sense of discipline and balance while developing essential time management skills. With so many different tasks and responsibilities it also helps children to learn compartmentalization, much required in today’s fast paced world.

In addition, it also encourages children to maintain good personal hygiene, include some form of physical exercise in their daily routine and also support that with a good and balanced diet.

Financial Literacy

Earning, Spending, Saving: The Cycle of Financial Wisdom*
Our young entrepreneurs from Std I & II learned the value of hard-earned money at our *Financial Literacy Event!*
Students completed various errands to earn their “Maneckji Money”.
Used their earnings to purchase yummy food & essential stationery
Showcased their savings skills at the end!
We’re proud to instill essential life skills, financial literacy, and responsibility in our students.

Safety

As adults, there are certain life saving skills that we need to be aware of. Knowing what to do in an emergency can not only help our children stay calm but also have the presence of mind to help themselves and others. The school therefore organizes regular fire drills with tips on how to contain fire, stay calm and use the fire exits to get to safety. The exercise also teaches them to avoid excess smoke inhalation and also how to avoid situations which may lead to a fire breaking out and getting out of hand.

Becoming Tech Savvy

In an increasingly digital world, we used digital apps for almost everything. While the younger generation is already hands on with using tech, especially on mobiles, having focused sessions on how to use tech for work and etiquettes of digital communication prepares children for higher education as well as for when they join the workforce. Here are Students of Std. IX presenting topics in class by using technology. This was followed by a Competitive Group Discussion to encourage children to have an opinion and express it in a professional manner.
